Statement Regarding Hurricane Harvey

The hurricane that devastated Texas over the past weekend continues today and flooding and disaster will be widespread for the time being. We call on local and national leaders to do all that they can do to help the people who have lost everything. There is a lot that we can do, but we should not do it at the expense of the first responders.

In the past, a lot of people tried to do all that they can to help, but they put more strain on the resources that are there and that are limited.

To that end, if you want to help, there are a lot of ways that you can contact local teams and local task forces to go to a place that is organized to do many tasks of various types. Even in this adverse situation, there is a lot of opportunity to help out and to contribute to your fellow man.

The hurricane, along with many other disasters, are opportunities to be a part of something that is bigger than yourself. Those who have more than they need should and are tasked with giving to those who do not have enough to meet their needs. Use this opportunity to give your resources, but give wisely and do not try to do anything on your own accord.
